Water is, of course, important in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The amount of water you need every day depends on factors like your health, age, weight, etc. But you do need to stay hydrated right through the day and that includes your EMS training session. In fact, hydration is key to seeing the right results from your EMS workouts. Your performance during EMS exercise may not be as good as you would hope because your body simply won’t function at its best without enough fluids. You may feel more fatigued than usual and you may lose concentration if you haven’t taken in enough water. Want to perform better in each EMS session? Stay hydrated. You don’t just need water though to maximise your EMS training.
When you train at a Feel Electric EMS studio, you’ll burn a large number of calories in a small amount of time and you won’t just need fluids to keep you moving. You should never work out on an empty stomach before an EMS session. What should you eat though before your training session at Feel Electric? Fuel your body with energy from a combination of carbohydrates and proteins beforehand to keep you going during the session and to help repair your body afterwards. Avoid rich foods that take longer to digest and could make you uncomfortable while EMS exercising. Try foods like bananas, Greek yogurt, dried fruits, oats, chickpeas, caffeine, whole grain toast or fruit smoothies before each EMS session. These foods will provide a steady stream of energy throughout your workout. The secret to a great EMS session? Eating the right foods before you work out.
Eating and drinking aren’t the only things you can do to maximise your EMS session. Electro Muscle Stimulation will help you tone your body by activating over 90% of your muscle fibres during each 20-minute session. Those targeted electrical impulses do a lot of the hard work for you so you don’t have to tense up at the thought of an EMS workout! You can however add to those positive effects by consciously tensing your muscles. Tense your muscles during an EMS session and you can actually make your workout 40% more effective.
One of the benefits of EMS training at Feel Electric is the individual attention you get from our personal trainers. But it’s up to you to make the most of this supportive spotlight that our expert PTs provide. Throughout each EMS session our personal trainers will ask you how you’re feeling. Make sure you take every opportunity to communicate with them honestly. That way your PT will be able to harness the power of EMS training for your personal fitness goals. When you speak up during your EMS workout, you speed up your fitness journey.
You’ll love working with our supportive EMS trainers but you may tire of their constant emphasis on your breathing. But they’re concentrating on making sure you focus on your breathing during the EMS session for a very good reason. Focusing on your breath during exercise helps regulate your breathing and ensures you are not holding your breath whilst tensing…and we now know how important tensing your muscles is!
